Sarah Lockett Artist

About Sarah Lockett
My creativity as an artist is energised by the wildness of the North Devon landscape and coast. Vivid memories of the constantly changing weather and tides provided the inspiration for my first seascape, painted whilst living in Wisconsin, America. It was here that I began my painting journey.
After returning to the UK in 2007, I focused on developing my self-taught practice as an artist rather than returning to my career as a magazine journalist in London. After making the permanent move to Devon in 2010, I have been painting and exhibiting in the UK and the USA ever since.
Recently, I have been teaching Impressionist seascape classes and taking a wide range of commissions. Being asked to capture an individual’s personal connection to a specific place and to recreate it on canvas is a privilege.
The incentive in all my work is to express an emotion or attachment, to the varied landscape and the vastness of sea and sky, in the hope that others may feel it too.
